Urbana 5.11.12
So the Urbana, IL ‘heed trip went extremely well. =) The show was awesome and afterwards Savannah and I had our picture taken with Claudio Sanchez and we were able to chat with Travis Stever and Zach Cooper. Perhaps more details to come when I have more time to type something up.
‘Heedtrip [heed-trip (n.) (v.)]
A derivation of “Coheed roadtrip”. A ‘Heedtrip is defined by a loyal Coheed fan (or group of fans) traveling inconveniently long distances for the sole purpose of attending one or more live Coheed and Cambria shows. A ‘Heedtripper will follow Coheed on tour from state to state (and country to country, when one can afford it), going to such lengths as hitchhiking and sleeping in bus stations to reach the next night’s show. Fans who embark upon ‘Heedtrips often form intense bonds with their roadmates despite living thousands of miles apart from each other after returning to their everyday lives.
Once the ‘Heedtrip mentality is acquired by a fan, returning to a quiet life of routine and stability is exceedingly difficult, if not impossible. It is common for a ‘Heedtripper to see anywhere from 5 to 50 Coheed shows in the span of one year. Due to their highly adventurous natures and extreme devotion to the Coheed universe, ‘Heedtrippers quickly become restless and dissatisfied when tours are few and far between. During these times withdrawal symptoms such as wanderlust, depressive moods, and a deep physiological craving to scream “Man your own Jackhammer!” may occur.
Reblogging because always yes.
I worked my butt off on this for my good friend Aaron. I am definitely an over-achieving perfectionist sometimes. XD
‘Heed Trip April 2011
Alrighty! The time has come to regail you with tales of my (not-so) recent ‘heed trip. I wrote most of this back in May with the intention of adding more, not waiting until practically December to post. XD
I went to the Detroit (Royal Oak) show on April 29 and the Chicago show on April 30 with Savannah (@halobear11). Savannah came to Michigan on the 27th and we frosted cookies with Keyworks and dragonflies to give to the Coheed guys and the Meet ‘n Greeters on the 28th.

It took forever to frost the 34 cookies we took with us so we ended up leaving my house six hours later than we planned. It was completely worth it, though.

On the 29th Savannah and I headed out to the Royal Oak venue about 3 hours early so we could meet up and chill (and eat Jimmy Johns) with some of our friends from Twitter before the concert (@erikakilgannon, @pierceketchum, and others). I’m sure we looked a little strange holding this random Thinkgeek box full of cookies.
Eventually Jess (@JessKilgannon) gathered up the Meet and Greeters (Savannah, Orion, Cassie, Tara, Jameson, Matt, and me) and we were able to go into the Royal Oak Music Theater ahead of everyone and have a few minutes with the guys. I was really happy to have a chance to show Coheed how much I appreciate them. Savannah and I gave the cookies out to our fellow Meet and Greeters and the guys in the band and they seemed to get a kick out of them. I was able to get my Black Rainbow shirt signed and I got a pic with the guys. =)

I am really grateful for the Meet and Greet, but I was getting frustrated because of someone on the VIP list (not a part of the Meet and Greet) that was taking up a lot of the band’s attention. She was standing right in front of Savannah and I so that we couldn’t even approach the guys until someone asked if there was anyone else that wanted pictures. Seriously, we earned that Meet and Greet by promoting Coheed on the street team (@kidsofthefence). She should have respected that and not monopolized Coheed’s attention. =/
After the Meet and Greet was the VIP show. Travis played us a song then the venue opened its doors to everyone else waiting outside. Savannah and I had spots on the rail and center stage. We were so happy! Before too many people made it inside a guy started to seize. I felt so bad for him. When he came out of it and recovered enough to speak he was begging the medics to let him stay for the show but they wouldn’t let him.
The acoustic set was great and the crowd didn’t get too out of control until the main set (SSTB) started. Quite a few of us on the rail were forced to bail or face potential injury (thanks Kyle @KmanKilgannon for protecting me!). It was a great show overall, though we were disappointed we couldn’t really get back into the crowd after escaping the rail. We checked out the merch table and chilled in the back of the crowd until the end of the show. While in the back we met Tim (@lostdelirium) and Matt (@mattske83), which was cool. =)
I’ll post more later. Probably much much later. =p Next: The Chicago show!
Please help get my story out and reblog this. Thank you.
Alright. I’m starting a thing online, as I just got hung up on by a U-Haul rep. But I want to explain what happened so you feel where I’m coming from.
A couple of weeks ago, I made the decision to move to San Diego to pursue culinary…

I never did finish the post I started documenting the lastest ‘heed trip. XD But I got my shirt signed by the guys of Coheed and Cambria, which is awesome. <3
